How to distinguish the performance and application of lattice ball mill and overflow ball mill?

Ball mill is divided into grid type ball mill and overflow type ball mill according to different ore discharge methods, which is the most common grinding machine used in mineral processing industry at present.

The grinding product of overflow ball mill is the free overflow through the hollow Journal of ore discharge, so the level of slurry in the barrel must be higher than the level of the lowest busbar of the Journal of ore discharge. The discharge of materials is not as smooth as that of the grid ball mill, which sometimes causes that the ore particles that have reached the grinding fineness cannot be discharged in time and continue to be impacted and grinded by steel balls, resulting in the low productivity of the grinding machine and the phenomenon of "over-crushing" of the products. However, the overflow ball mill has simple structure, convenient operation and maintenance, and the product is relatively fine. It is often used for fine grinding, that is, when the grinding fineness is less than 0.2mm or the second stage of two continuous grinding.

The grid ball mill is similar to the overflow ball mill except that the ore discharge grid plate is installed at the ore discharge end. The grinding products of the grid ball mill are discharged from the ore-discharging Plaid plate, which has the function of forced ore-discharging, and the ore-discharging speed is fast. The level of ore pulp surface at the ore-discharging end is lower than the lowest bus level of the ore-discharging Journal, so it is called low-level ore-discharging. There is a height difference between the feed end and the discharge end in the mill. The speed of the pulp passing through the mill is accelerated, so that the ground particles can be discharged in time. Therefore, minerals with higher density will not be concentrated in the mill, and "over-crushing" is lighter than overflow ball mill, which accelerates the grinding speed.

Because there is less pulp stored in the lattice ball mill, and there is block of the grid plate, so more balls can be loaded to facilitate small balls. When the steel ball falls, the effect of weakening the striking effect is also lighter due to the resistance of slurry. These reasons make its productivity and efficiency about 10% ~ 25% higher than that of overflow ball mill. The product has coarse particle size and is not easy to produce over-crushing. However, the grid ball mill has complex structure, high quality and high power consumption. Due to the high productivity, the specific productivity per unit of power consumption is still higher than that of overflow type. Plaid ball mill is widely used in ore dressing plants for coarse grinding or the first section of two continuous grinding.
